The European Qualifications Framework (EQF) aims to support mobility of learners across Europe by enabling them to understand how their qualifications are regarded in different country contexts. This will provide an overarching reference point for vocational and academic qualifications.
As an instrument for the promotion of lifelong learning, the EQF encompasses general and adult education, vocational education and training, as well as higher education. It applies to all types of qualifications from those achieved at the end of compulsory education to those awarded at the highest level of academic and professional or vocational education and training.
The SCQF is working in partnership with other United Kingdom frameworks to relate them to the EQF through participation in the UK EQF Coordination Group.
